Talent Spotting

The subject of several TV shows for many years, but talent spotting isn’t just about your ability to sing, dance or juggle but about the talent you can harness from your workforce. The truly talented Child Protégé is often nurtured first by it’s parents and latterly it’s teachers, but what happens as the child becomes an adult, who manages them at that stage? It could of course be an employer, who may find that such an individual needs to be embraced to harness and grow that skill.

When that employee is a woman the skill set required to manage the particular individual is pertinent not just to their abilities but to their gender. Managing a woman is, I’m afraid to tell you, totally different to managing a man – yes it is – it’s useless to deny it. Women are not only a different sex, we are in truth a different species. We may be if you believe it aka – John Grays’s book – from a different planet! So accepting that first is the primary step. What works for managing men may not always work for the fairer sex.
